In response to an invitation from the council of Baguio City, the OFW-Kabayan Help Desk team attended the Regular Session last July 13, 2015 (Monday) held at the Session Hall as presided by City Vice-Mayor Hon. Edison R. Bilog,.

Hon. Isabelo Cosalan, Committee on Employment, Livelihood and Cooperatives and Persons with Disabilities, presented the letter dated May 20, 2015 of Rev. Leonardo and Resurreccion Montenegro, OFW-KabayanHelp Desk Benguet Chapter-Coordinators to the council meeting.

The letter proposed for a presentation that promotes the “ABKD ng OFWs” (Alamin ang Benepisyo at Karapatan para sa Depensa) advocacy.

Out of the 67 items in their session, it was a great opportunity and a breakthrough for the OFW-Kabayan Help Desk (OFWK) Advocacy to be part of their agenda for discussion and presentation. Ptr. Warfil De Leon, OFWK National Operations Manager together with Rev. Leonardo and Ressureccion Montenegro and Bishop Edwin Magusib presented the R.A. 10022 as the basis of this advocacy.

The purpose of the presentation is twofold: First, to introduce OFW-Kabayan Help Desk−the advocacy, vision and mission, the regional chapters and accomplishments of the organization.

Also in attendancewere Hon. Elmer Datuin who called our advocacy “a good advocacy.” Hon. Faustino A. Olowan said, “For our partnership there should be a proper passing of requirements to make it official.” Hon. Isabelo B. Cosalan concluded, “In the manifestation of Coun. Datuin and other councilors we wouldwant to accredit you as an authorized Non-Government Organization in Baguio City as soon as you comply with the required documents for accreditation.”

The council voted to move this proposal for accreditation.
